The ADJD Wills Service, Explained
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) provides a Will registration service for any non-Muslim adult. An ADJD Will can address assets in the UAE, including property, accounts and business interests; the appropriate scope should be checked for your circumstances.
Abu Dhabi Law No. 14 of 2021 concerns civil marriage and personal status for non-Muslims in Abu Dhabi. It forms part of the civil personal status framework, rather than a guarantee that every asset or instruction will be dealt with in the same way.
Registration can be completed remotely by a video appointment with the ADJD. A translation may be required. Document requirements and appointment arrangements should be confirmed with the ADJD for your application.
A registered Will records your chosen distribution and executor arrangements. Court and institution procedures still apply after death, and timelines vary case by case.
